I'm Kelly. I could tell you a whole bunch of stuff about me, but the only thing I care is that you know I love Jesus. He means more than anything to me. More than my husband and my three world changers, although they are really really really close. Certainly more than the resident cats and way more than my abilities as an artist. I am a sinner that is desperately running with all my mind, body and soul after a God who has given me more than I can ever repay and in that fearless pursuit... I often screw up. Which means grace abounds here. If you are in the need of grace... you have come to the right place. God has given me a desire to commune with Him through the arts. I adore this season of my life, but I will not let it define me. I am first and for most a follower of Jesus. The rest is just grace laid bare in action.
I could never do what I do on a daily basis without mentioning the tribe of believers that pushes and pulls me to higher and deeper levels with my own self and my creator God. Folks such as she who mentioned I take a class, she who gifted me a whole box of canvases, and some of the best folks on the planet who listen each week as I get my heart straight with God in our smallish group. I am confident that I cannot do any of this on my own, which makes me very aware that as you read this you are becoming part of the story. A story that is written with each brush of a paint brush, each piece of paper, each lovely completed. The narrative has to have folks like you in it, or the story is just plain "girl sells canvas" and THAT is boring. Let's live life together, even for a brief moment. Let's work together and call on a God that knows all and loves all. He does change lives. I know this first hand. Let's be brave together so more and more people's hearts are turned toward the God who saves every time a glance is made at a lovely. Together, let's use the arts as a platform to praise a God who loves to be creative and free too. |
I start with a blank canvas. To which I add paint, ink and stamps. Many times this canvas will sit for a few hours or days waiting for a image. When my mind has created an image that I believe is inspired by God. I will tear it out of paper, paint a few more details on, and then finish off with words.
The words are perhaps my most favorite part. They come from all over, the Bible, conversations, sermons, my heart. While I am preparing and creating a canvas often time's words will just come to me. It's hard to explain this whole creative process without sounding all mystical. I can assure you it's a real process, but I can't really explain to you how it happens over and over again. They say the proof is in the pudding. Well, each canvas whispers to the heart of someone, whether or not they purchase it, and that is good enough proof too me. I often write about the specific ways God has used a certain Lovely on my blog. I'd love to have you visit there to learn more about how specifically God has chosen to use this ministry to give hope and love to those who call out His name. |
